Now a solo artist, Michael O'Brien is also a former member of Newsong, a group that's had seventeen #1 singles, six Dove Award nominations and produced five of the Top 100 Christian Radio Singles of the past decade. Best of all, Michael co-wrote and sang When God Made You, the song my son Jasen played recently at his wedding. Obviously, Michael O'Brien has touched my family's life with his ministry.
But gratefully, my books and ministry have touched Michael O'Brien's family in return, and so he was very excited to join up with me on Win This War. It's a bit too convoluted to explain how we met, but what a servant Michael has been, and what a great heart he has for God's truth and ministry!
When I asked Michael to be part of the project, he wrote the following back to me, "My heart is to encourage couples to work through their problems and bring romance back to the church, and the message of Every Man's Battle is part of that. I look forward to reading your new book Tactics, and I will continue to endorse Every Man's Battle to my audience."
In prayer over the project, his wife Heidi then wrote to me, "I pray God will place a strong barrier of protection around you and your family! I praise Him for the good works that He has prepared in advance that you are to walk in. Dear Lord in Heaven, help us as we champion marriages and families together. Equip us for the task! Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil! Help our lives to point towards you, your deliverance, your hope, your forgiveness and the abundant lives we can have through the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen."

Message from Michael:
About six years ago, I was on the brink of divorce. At that time, I had been married for twelve years and was in the music ministry. Though I was a Christian and leading literally thousands of people to Christ each year, I was living in the chains of pornography and masturbation. At the very early age of six, I got my first taste of a Playboy magazine centerfold. From there, I became addicted to hard-porn at the age of twelve and went on to a life of sexual immorality through college and beyond. After getting radically saved when I was twenty-three, I married a beautiful virgin woman named Heidi. Unfortunately, getting married didn't stop the sin, so now I had a bigger problem. I had hidden my porn habits from her from the time I met her, knowing she would never marry me if she knew this about me. I worried continually, What if she finds out?
Well, she finally did find out. It all came out one night when I shared my struggle with her, and I saw first-hand, face-to-face, how it literally broke her heart. That was the turning point for me--that's when I fully realized that my sin was not only hurting me, but was hurting the one I loved the most.
The book Every Man's Battle helped change everything for us. It gave me a strategic way to fight the battle for purity. I am proud to say, even to the surprise of many of my Christian friends, that I have not masturbated in over five years and I am using the Every Man's series and Fred's new book Tactics to help in this fight. I am the first O'Brien in my family tree to raise my kids in Christ and to fight this spirit of Jezebel that is taking over America. I thank God for Fred Stoeker. He walks with such integrity and wants nothing more than to help others get free from this debilitating disease. I pray that you that are still in bondage will have the courage to be honest with yourself and to deal with the reality of how pornography is destroying the body of Christ. Trust me when I say it: There is hope on the other side! God did a miracle in my relationship with my wife, and He can work a miracle in you. Fred is a man who speaks about the unspeakable.
